Bio
Kamyar Arsani is an Avant-Garde multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter from Tehran, Iran. Through his solo work and numerous collaborations, Arsani creates music across an array of styles: ranging from classical Persian music to Punk Rock and genre-defying electronic experimentation. A teacher, scholar and performer of the Daf (the Iranian frame drum), Arsani has been hailed by the Washington Post and has been a featured artist at the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, Voice of America, Georgetown University and numerous other stages and workshops.
Kamyar's latest recorded work, "Bird, and the cage" was released via FPE Records in July of 2022 and received review from The Wire Magazine. Setting an original poem, along with four poems of the contemporary Iranian poet Sohrab Sepehri, along with Daf, acoustic guitar, piano, flute,
electronic noise modulations, and Arsani’s liquid singing in Farsi , this album evokes hypnotic moods familiar to fans of obscure masterpieces like Scott Walker‘s 1995 album Tilt and Vangelis‘s 1973 Earth.
